Women's and Gender Issues

I am working on women's issues and gender justice in sustainable development, in policy making, research and development, for example:

With a group of colleagues, I co-founded GenderCC - Women for Climate Justice, the international organisation and network of women and gender activists, and gender experts from all world regions working for gender and climate justice. GenderCC is also the focal point for the official observer constituency of women and gender experts in the United Nations climate change process (UNFCCC).

I have  been active in the women's caucus at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) and the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development 2002; the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW); and other international fora.

I have been working on issues such as climate change, tourism, sustainable consumption, land rights, and participation in decision-making - conducting and coordinating research, networks, conferences and trainings; writing; and advocating.

I also have a background in research and teaching at the university level, working on curriculum development & teaching in women's studies; research on sexism and racism; women's career development; networking & mentoring.
